Atlanta
Tamarind Seed
The restaurant closed in September 2017. Another great restaurant that didn’t make it in a crazy world. As I write today we are a few weeks into the coronavirus pandemic. There are going to be a lot more notices like this one.
Bhojanovic

Archna (pronounced “urch‐na”) is on the board of the Georgia Restaurant Association (GRA).

Elizabeth’s on 37th
Elizabeth on 37th opened in 1981 as the creation of Chef Elizabeth Terry & her husband Michael. |
Brother’s Greg & Gary Butch, long-time employees at Elizabeth on 37th, joined the Terry’s as partners in 1988. This dynamic combination has assured the continuance of Elizabeth’s high standards of great cuisine & service in lovely, comfortable surroundings. |
I called after one afternoon a day of visiting sites in Savannah on a comfortable 105 degree August day. They assured me I could eat if I got there before any of their regular customers showed up despite my attire of tee shirt and shorts. While I ate dinner and found out more about their relations with the Dali Lama, passion about food I noticed people were arriving in coats and ties, long dresses. I had purchased their cookbook years before and loved the food but I had no idea I was entering into an amazing cultural experience apart from the food.
Hominy grill
Another casualty of the restaurant virus. I went there because they were the winners of the 2008 James Beard Award for Best Chef Southeast. Friends, if you hear of a great restaurant, go. The visit will always be in your memory and who doesn’t want a bowl of grits to dominate a dream once in a while.
